Benefits of Botox
Botox injections are typically used for their ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. They can also be used as a means to treat excessive sweating, lazy eye, overactive bladder, and neck spasms. In some cases, botox injections can even help prevent chronic migraines.
How does it work?
Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinumtoxinA to prevent a muscle moving for a period of time. This toxin is created using the microbe that causes botulism. In fact, botox was the first drug to use botulinum toxin.
Why Botox?
Botox blocks certain chemical signals from nerves that largely cause muscles to contract. Common instances of these injections are used to temporarily relax facial muscles that cause wrinkles around the eyes and forehead.
Lazy Eye: The most typical cause of lazy eye is an imbalance of the muscles used to position the eye
Muscle Contractures: In cases where the individual has cerebral palsy, botox can be used to relax the muscles used to contract your limbs.
How to prepare for Botox?
Contact your doctor if you’ve had any injections in the past four months. Your doctor will also need to know of any muscle relaxants, sleeping aids or alley medications that you take. People that take blood thinners should also pause taking them for several days before the injection in an effort to reduce your risk of bleeding or bruising.
